Wellness Wednesday
A new study published in Pathophysiology has shown that long-term use of cell or cordless phones comes with a high risk of brain tumors. In fact, the study says the long-term use of wireless phones triples the risk. Young people are particularly vulnerable since their skulls are thinner and heads smaller, therefore increasing the brain's exposure to the radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. Tips to avoid exposureinclude using speaker phones and texting, both of which keep the phone away from the head. Here's a summary of the study.

Cherie, ha, most young folks that I know rarely talk on the phone but text thousands of messages a month. I hardly ever see my daughter who's 30 years old actually talk on the phone. Even I don't usually talk much on the phone. Have you ever seen the YouTube popcorn video? Four cell phone are put around several kernels of popcorn and then called. It pops the kernels of corn. I haven't tried because .... well .... it is YouTube so I'm always a bit skeptical about what I see on YouTube. I guess the evolution of texting is one good thing about cell phone technology.
Have a great cell phone texting/speaker phone day.
i am not a big phone talker anymore and prefer the occasional text for little stuff otherwise in-person for real conversation most of the time, so I guess I can tell folks who make fun of me that I'm being healthy! :)
