A Year in Review

Calendar series 4

Happy New Year!  Yet another year gone by - and the world didn't come to an end on December 21.  Much has occurred this year so I thought I'd highlight a few things:

  • Finished my master's degree
  • Began my third year as a volunteer at Danita's Children
  • Took another trip to Haiti, this time as a staff member for the orphanage
  • Saw our son graduate college
  • Saw our son get married
  • Became a grandparent
  • Helped our daughter apply to the Peace Corps (keeping our fingers crossed)
  • Took another 3-month no-shopping challenge
  • Finished my cookbook project for our local food pantry
  • Was in charge of publicity for our local CROP Hunger Walk again this year
  • Attended several farm- and food-related conferences
  • Attended the second annual Wild Goose festival where I got a huge spiritual boost
  • Saw Gloria Steinem speak at a local event
  • Continued to spread the word about sustainability, health, and justice.
  • Started "Farm Fridays" on the blog
  • Participated in Earth Hour for the fourth year in a row
  • Finished our first year as full-time farmers
  • Had a total of four interns work on the farm
  • Sought to live more sustainably by driving less, consuming less, making more
  • Took a one-month hiatus from facebook
  • Made some important personal changes in my life after a month of reflection
I'm sure I'm overlooking some other (probably important) events/changes but just can't think of any more.  I'm looking forward to seeing what 2013 has in store for me.

This is a most impressive list Cherie. I was looking at the Wild Goose site but they don't have a lot of information there. Regardless, I am intrigued. I wonder if you might someday write a post on your time at the festival.
Peace to you in this new year.

Rubye, Wild Goose is in transition right now so they don't have their lineup for this year yet. I have blogged about both of my visits (2011 and 2012) - just search "Wild Goose" on my blog and they'll show up.
