| Ready for business at the winter market |
We also had our first day at the new winter farmers' market which will tentatively run January through March. We had a great first day - as did other vendors we spoke to. Lots of community support. Hope that keeps up.
Now my time is filled with learning my new job! I'm excited about it but it's a big change for me. Of course, I'll still be part of the farm, just my role won't be as large. Over the last couple of years, I've streamlined a lot of the administrative and routine farm chores so it was a good time to branch out.
Due to time constraints, I probably won't be blogging as much as I have in the past. I'll have to play it by ear as I don't want to abandon the blog after all this time but I know I can't spend as much time on it as I have in the past. Will keep you posted....

Cherie, my prayers are with you both as you transition into a new life style in this coming year. It's very difficult in this day and age to survive on homestead income alone. The largest farm that my Dad owned was 114 acres. We had milk cows, hogs, chickens, and one horse. Dad owned two different farms and always had a hand in farming small scale but never did we live on the that income. Dad always had an outside job to bring in the living income and farming was more of a hobby that some times paid for itself. I truly admire you and Bill for making a break from main stream society and cubicle living. Working a homestead today requires many income streams and one most likely will be working a job outside of the homestead.

David, thanks for the good wishes! I'm excited about the new opportunity - humanitarian aid, etc. is where my heart is. I'll still be involved with the farm but now I'll have an even wider reach. The organization I'm working for also supports agricultural projects in developing countries with sustainability as a goal. Working for good around the world AND homesteading? It's a win-win for me.
