I live on a sustainable family farm and work for a humanitarian aid organization. My goal is to have a simple beautiful life. The Quaker acronym SPICE (simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality) guides my life.
Cherie, always good information about food comes from your blog. My diet isn't at a total sugar shut down yet but I'm getting closer. Working in the garden I usually drink about 40oz of water in a three hour stretch but I know that's not enough because thirst continues long after the work detail. Skin being the biggest organ of the body and produce a lot of cooling sweat in three hours. I am usually drenched if the humidity is high during the three hours of gardening. More clean water is the answer. If clean water is even possible any more.
David, I think everything in moderation. One of the main sources of sugar is soft drinks; it's amazing how much sugar is in those drinks. Also, many people don't realize the fat is replaced with sugar. We use some sugar around the house - primarily when I bake or make granola. I've also made the switch to cane sugar (organic when I can get it) to avoid the GMO beet sugar that is typically found in foods and in the grocery store.

Have a great sugar free day.
