Farm Friday - R.I.P. Ginny

It has been the saddest week on the farm. Yesterday we said goodbye to our dear sweet, loyal, brave, beautiful Lady Virginia "Ginny." She had been quite ill last fall but I was able to get her into remission after changing her diet and giving her a variety of herbal and homeopathic medications. Since she had been so ill, I knew each day with her was a gift. A few weeks back her health started to deteriorate again. This time around diet and other treatment didn't work. All the time she was ill, I treated her as I would want to be treated in a similar situation.Once I knew her quality of life was poor, it was time.  It was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. We will miss this amazing girl.

Happy Ginny

Ginny developed a habit of getting a stick to remind us it was time to walk

Our cat Zelda loved Ginny (although the feeling wasn't mutual)

Oh Cherie I am so so so sorry for your loss of your sweet girl. Yesterday I was just thinking about my Rottie who died 3 years ago this week at age 14 and it's still so hard to think about her. Ginny was so sweet and so lucky to have your family as her family! Big hugs...

I am so sorry Cherie for the loss of Ginny...it is so hard to make that decision. As someone told me when we lost our Mollie "You could miss the pain but you would miss the dance" I don't think any of us would want to have missed the dance with our sweet dogs (or cats)....

I am so so sorry. It just sucks doesn't it? I hope you can take some comfort in the knowledge that you gave her a wonderful life and that she was deeply loved.
xoxoxo,

Cherie, so sorry to hear about the loss of Ginny. Those animals that touch our lives for such a short time live on through our memories. One day when the thought of Ginny comes to mind it will bring smiles from good memories instead of sadness for their loss. I've had to go through pet loss several times over the course of my life time. I totally understand the emotional tenderness during the time immediately after the loss. Thoughts and prayers headed your way for comfort during this time.

Have the best day that you can.

I'm so sorry! Losing a pet is so hard. My dog is about to turn 10 and is a rescue that was near death when we got her and who knows how she spent her first 2 years, I know she was abused. I'm treasuring every day with her, she is healthy now but the life of dogs is far too short. <3
