Monday Morning Amazement

How cool is this?

Shows what can be done with commitment and passion.

Cherie, that's awesome. It's sad how much trash we produce in this country. Sixty years ago when I was a kid everyone had a burn barrel out behind the house for paper and cardboard. One of the things that I did for extra money was to save newspapers and cardboard boxes. Mom knew where we could take the stacks of papers, cardboard, and magazines to get cash by the pound. Slick magazines paid the most. Of course soda pop bottles were turned in for the 2 cent deposit. The milk was purchased in returnable glass jugs. We did have a trash can but it never had much in it for the weekly pickup. My town does have recycle for plastic numbers 1,2,3, and 5. They also recycle paper and cardboard. The glass can be recycled but it has to be taken to special drop off sites. The other recycles are picked up on regular pickup schedules from in front of the houses. My mother in law lives in an apartment with large dumpsters that get filled and emptied three times a week. It's unreal what people throw away. Stories like yours posted give me a glimmer of hope that this excess trash issue can be turned around.

Have a great no trash day.
