Good to Know

My girl Ginny
Most people know that chocolate is toxic to dogs, but there are a few other human foods that dogs shouldn't eat.  Here's a list of five fruits and vegetables that are poisonous to dogs, courtesy of One Green Planet:
  1. Grapes and raisins
  2. Tomatoes
  3. Garlic and onions
  4. Avocados
  5. Fruit seeds/pits
You can read about fruits and vegetables that are good for your puppy here.

I think the website goes a bit overboard on some of them, as neither grapes nor garlic are "poisonous". Grapes should be avoided but as a dog owner I know that my Rottie loved any fruit she could get her mouth around and never got sick. As for garlic, my mom always chopped a bit up and gave to our dogs growing up to ward off fleas, and I have done the same with my dogs with no ill effects. As far as tomatoes, never had any issues when my dog ate those either.

Our existing dog strangely doesn't care about fruits or veggies like my Daisy did, yet she still manages to fart up a storm...

LOVE the picture of Ginny, that cracked us up!! Good girl!
