Quote for the Week

Conservation is the quickest, cheapest, most practical source of energy.”
~Jimmy Carter

Love love love this quote. As I hear people around me protesting uranium mining and natural gas pipelines, no one talks about conservation of energy and how by conserving energy will reduce the demand and therefore the need for mines, pipelines, and power plants. During the energy crisis, President Carter knew that we could get through it by reducing our consumption but because our society is all about consumption, his strategy fell on deaf ears.

Cherie, and yet the oil demand is way down on a global basis. I'm not sure if it is just a temporary thing or if it's a sustainable thing. If the mythical global warming/climate change thing causes people to conserve energy, then it just might be a good thing after all. :-)

Have a great energy conservation day.

David, it's hard to understand the decrease in oil demand (although I'm all for it) because I look around and see so much wasted energy. One thing that gets me are all the electronic signs and billboards that are so popular now. Our local mall was purchased by a new company a couple of years ago and the main thing they did was put one of those gigantic billboards out front.
