Who Can You Trust?

This afternoon I was having a conversation with my son (who, by the way, is a wealth of information).  The topic turned to the Energy Star program, which I've used as a guide when purchasing appliances.  Turns out, it can't be trusted.  Earlier this year the Government Accountability Office's Forensic Audits and Special Investigations team investigated the approval process and found it severely lacking.  Go here, here and here to read more.
